A Rewarding Build
This was a fun project to build. This deck covers 930 square feet of composite decking. Showcasing here is Fiberon Sanctuary decking in Espresso for a warm, refined look.
DECK BUILDER INVITES YOU TO TAKE A TOUR
IT BEGAN WITH A VISION
This is the frame design and a 3D rendering of the deck our clients were dreaming for.
It was time to get to work on this beautiful deck build in Monument. The windows are very large and expensive. They were boarded to prevent any risk of damage during construction. The boarded windows were removed after construction. The wood joists are KDAT 2x8's treated lumber. KDAT is a drying process where wood is pressure treated, and then chemicals are removed, resulting in minimized warps, cups, checks and twists. There were multiple angles to work with that made the overall build a little challenging. The joist has moisture tape installed over the top of joist and beams to add an additional layer of protection for the wood frame. A deck joist is a repeated, horizontal structure that forms the primary framework and support system for a deck's surface, onto which the decking boards are attached.
Precision in Multi-Angle Deck Design
The wraparound design required careful engineering and precision to align multiple angles and breaker boards seamlessly.
A breaker board is a decking board installed perpendicular to the main deck boards, used to break up long runs of decking into smaller, manageable sections.
One of the standout challenges on this deck build project was achieving perfect alignment across every board. We angled sections of the decking to draw the eye toward the mountains, while bordered stair treads added a refined, finished touch.
Enjoying the Surroundings
The metal railing has a slim profile to allow greater visibility of the beautiful views.
Our customers can take in the majestic Pike’s Peak Mountain range from the comfort of this expansive wraparound deck.
The miter joints on the fascia and deck border boards are precise and seamless. We use specialized fascia screws to reduce natural expansion and contraction of composite materials. Matching-color composite plugs are then installed over the screws for a polished, visually appealing finish.
We carefully align the grain patterns throughout the fascia to achieve a natural, cohesive look. This attention to detail is evident.
